Deep Cleaning Your Jericho Rental Home’s Bathroom

Jericho Rental Property with a Squeaky Clean BathroomOne of the good things about first moving into a rental home is how clean everything is. A quality landlord will make sure that every room of the home— kitchen, bathrooms, etc.— has been thoroughly cleaned before move-in day. However, time and daily use mean that even bathrooms that are cleaned regularly will need a good deep cleaning. To keep your Jericho rental home’s bathrooms sanitary and in good working order, you’ll need to do some deep cleaning tasks every few months. This way, your bathrooms will be kept sparkling clean.

The likely areas that will need deep cleaning the most are your tub, shower, and showerhead. All of these will have to be deep cleaned regularly to remove residue buildup and water spots. A simple and easy method to clean any bathroom surface is by mixing a few drops of white vinegar with a cup of baking soda to make a paste. Spread the mixture over the tub or shower door and let it sit for an hour. This gives the solution some time for it to work. Then wipe and rinse it clean. For shower walls, try spraying them with an all-purpose cleaner and then have the hot water run until the shower fills with steam. Close the shower door and let the cleaner sit for about twenty minutes, then wipe down with a wet sponge or cloth.

Vinegar works great on sinks and showerheads, too. To clean a sink with vinegar, just pour out a little amount, scrub, and flush with hot water. To clean a showerhead with white vinegar, fill a bag with it and then place the bag over the showerhead so that the entire fixture is soaking in the vinegar. Secure it well with a rubber band or twist-tie and let sit overnight. The next morning, remove the bag and wipe the showerhead clean.

Another area of the bathroom that should regularly get deep cleaned is the toilet. Whilst there are many different toilet cleaners on the market, using baking soda to deep clean a toilet remains to be the most effective method. Simply pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let sit for about five minutes. When the time is up, get a toilet brush and brush thoroughly. When you’re done, flush to rinse.

If your rental home’s bathroom has tile, you should have the grout deep cleaned to avoid bacterial growth. Bleach and a grout brush are the best ways to lighten discolored grout lines and kill anything trying to grow between your tile. To really keep grout watertight, don’t forget to reseal it every six months or so to keep moisture and bacteria out. Bleach can also be used to address any mold growing in windowsills or other areas. Prepare the solution by mixing one part bleach to two parts water and scrub any mold spots with a sponge.

Deep cleaning a bathroom doesn’t need to take up a lot of time and effort, but you should not forget to do it on a regular basis. Now that you know how to deep clean a bathroom the way the pros do it, it would be a whole lot easier to stay on top of this important maintenance task.
