(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Burlington Tenant Organizing Her Bathroom Drawers Something that most Burlington renters will find challenging is keeping a bathroom organized. A bathroom that’s organized is one that’s easier to maintain. And, it even helps in your morning routines! Clutter can lead to feelings of anxiety or frustration. An organized bathroom, however, promotes relaxation! But, in order for you to get all that from an organized bathroom, you have to be willing to put in the work! The key to organizing your bathroom lies in the following five practical tips.

Declutter

First and foremost, it is very important to find and get rid of any clutter so as to get a good start on an organized bathroom. Many people will accumulate a lot of things inside their bathroom which will eventually become clutter. This is why you have to sift through your cabinets, drawers, or shelves so that you can organize your items. If it’s expired, it’s going straight into the trash — it’s that simple. Group similar items together and take stock. Throw out any items that are duplicated, but still weren’t used in the past year. Then, you can begin organizing items that you need.

Categorize to Organize

When you finish decluttering, you can then proceed to categorize. This will allow you to organize better. If the bathroom is only being used by you, you can categorize items in such a way that it accommodates your routine. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. If, however, the bathroom is shared, one idea is to provide a caddy for each person’s items. The caddies can be placed on a shelf or cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

One sign of a disorganized bathroom is when people are clueless as to where items are. You can opt to buy clear storage containers to help deal with this. Your items, which are already categorized, can be placed in these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. You can make use of taller containers to keep certain items together in shelves or cabinets.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, make it a point to designate a place for each of your items. This allows you to avoid clutter all over again. Another tip is to keep things off of the bathroom counter. Instead, go for bins, drawers, and baskets. Pretty basic, but very effective: label your storage containers to make your life easier.

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. A small space usually means more of a challenge when it comes to organizing your personal items. More often than not, though, is that there is usually that one small unused space to work with to keep your bathroom tidy. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. It’s important that you know how to utilize these spaces so that you can keep your bathroom clean and organized.
